Workington Art Trail is a collection of exciting contemporary artwork created by local artists together with community groups, on display in Workington town centre throughout the winter.

Cumberland Council commissioned three artists from across north and west Cumbria to deliver art workshops. They have each co-created an artwork with their group and also made their own reflective piece in response to their experience with the project.

The lead artists and community groups are:

The Connections Micro-Commissions

Workington Town Council funded a further series of micro-commissions, including an award for an Emerging (early career) Artist. These were awarded to:

  • Zoe Forster

  • Nanette Madan

  • Loki Symes (Emerging Artist Award)

  • Kate Lavender

You can find the artwork at:

  • HSBC

  • Muffin Break

  • Cumberland Council’s Workington Library

  • Workington Railway Station

About the logo

The circular image in our logo was drawn by a participant at Moorclose Community Centre during Rosie’s workshops, and represents a ring their Grandpa used to wear. We chose it to symbolise the project’s perpetual connections, our multi-generational approach, and the way everybody has continued to learn from each other throughout the project.
